Let's Talk About Winter

So, this idea of winter has finally decided to show up, a few months late, but she is here.

I was getting a little over the whole, find snow to ski it idea as you can see from the picture above, waiting for a snowmobile tow-out after making my way through the dirt and the grime.

yes, it finally snowed.

I've spent my last couple days off skiing at Alta with my big sister, here we were yesterday enjoying the puking snow, the face masks and the fat skis. A very enjoyable day indeed.

oh, and look who I found, Fat Newty and his invincible team of two, Tiffy and Greg. I was fortunate enough to spend the morning shred dogging with this gang the other day, had to avoid people who needed help from "ski patrol" in order to stick with them, but I was crafty.

The snow kept falling this weekend, and then, this morning the skies cleared, the sun popped up and I found myself standing on top of a mountain trying to get the snow to move. These photos were taken today, after waking up at 4 AM, making my way to the mountain, assembling 60 lbs of explosive hand charges with the "Bomb Squad"that I have recently become a member of, skiing out to the Far East Ridge line with my team and navigating our way through this crazy chess game we call Avalanche Control.

My route partners, Dane and Carey, discussing snow.

The Sunrise this morning was pump-up-the-stoke edition // I bought a new point and shoot camera that I love by the way, it's nice to have something small that I can snap a few moments with. Here is Dane and that sunrise.

Explosive work.

and then there is that snow science stuff I've been into lately, the snowpack is incredibly sketchy this year, but it has allowed for a super stellar learning curve when it comes to getting right in there and looking at it. i've certainly enjoyed the brain boost it's giving me.

looking down at this often times makes me smile.

looking down at this often times makes me remember that multiple simultaneous days in ski boots makes my feet hurt. but. things are good my friends. much love //

I'm glad we finally got some snow. It has to increase the perks of your job. Did you get the advancement in the ski patrol that you deserve?
